In the afternoon of June 16, 2023, 30-year-old Jacob Dean Stark, a White male from Tucson, Arizona, was in a parking lot near South Park Avenue with a friend. At approximately 4:15 p.m., he was approached by a man who then opened fire. Stark sustained gunshot wounds in the attack.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and upon arrival, officers discovered Jacob Dean Stark in an alleyway just north of a business.
Despite life-saving measures administered at the scene, he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect had fled the area immediately after the shooting.
Tucson Police Department detectives launched an investigation into the homicide. After several months of pursuing leads, they identified 31-year-old Ramon Antonio Salcido as the primary suspect. Salcido was already incarcerated at the Pima County Jail on an unrelated charge. In collaboration with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, detectives gathered enough evidence to move forward with charges. On October 6, 2023, Ramon Antonio Salcido was formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jacob Dean Stark. He is being held on a $1,010,000 bond, and authorities have indicated that they are not seeking any other suspects in this case.
