Marshall Padgett, a 44-year-old Caucasian male, was discovered dead inside his apartment on 19th Avenue in Fairbanks on October 5, 2004. Police determined immediately that his death was a homicide, the result of intentional injuries inflicted within the small residence he had only recently begun to call home. The quiet street masked a darker reality that day, as detectives sealed off the doorway and began the slow work of piecing together what happened in the hours before the discovery.
