In the summer of 2017, the life of 20-year-old Leondre Richards was tragically cut short in Yuma, Arizona. On the evening of July 9th, a group of individuals forced their way into a residence at the 8th Street Mobile Home Park, located off of 16th Avenue and 8th Street. The intrusion quickly escalated into a scene of violence that would leave a family shattered and a community in shock.
During the home invasion, Richards sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
His mother was also shot and injured in the attack. The assailants fled the scene, leaving behind a chaotic and heartbreaking aftermath. The Yuma Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the brutal crime that had claimed a young man's life and wounded his mother.
The investigation led to the identification of four suspects in connection with the murder of Leondre Richards. Authorities named 19-year-old Jesus Gonzalez, 18-year-old Daniel Castillo, 21-year-old Juan Torres, and 23-year-old Daniel Contreras as the individuals responsible for the break-in and the subsequent shootings. The four were accused of carrying out the violent acts that resulted in Richards' death and the injury of his mother, bringing a measure of clarity to a senseless tragedy.
