Jaime "Dax" Gonzalez, a 43-year-old man from Safford, Arizona, died on August 10, 2017, due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found floating in the Gila River with obvious trauma to his head. The discovery was made by a man who was walking his dogs near the first boat ramp in the Gila Box area of the Gila River.
