In a parking lot in Peoria, Arizona, a heated argument tragically escalated, ending the life of 26-year-old Jaime Guerrero on the afternoon of April 2, 2018. The dispute, which centered around a woman, involved Guerrero and 30-year-old Christopher Mott. Both men were armed, and as tensions flared, Guerrero reportedly reached for his weapon. In a swift and fatal response, Mott fired his own gun, striking Guerrero once and killing him at the scene near 91st and Olive avenues.
Following the
single gunshot, the woman at the center of the conflict, 26-year-old Haley Mullinix, allegedly took Guerrero's firearm and concealed it in the vicinity. Authorities who responded to the incident located the hidden weapon. Mott remained at the location and was taken into custody for questioning by detectives. He was later released as the investigation continued.
Mullinix, however, was arrested and faced charges of hindering prosecution for her role in hiding the victim's gun after the shooting. The incident left behind a grieving family, including Guerrero's parents, two sons, and siblings.
