On April 27, 2018, Police Officer Jesus Manuel "Chuy" Cordova, aged 44, of the Nogales Police Department, lost his life in the line of duty. Officer Cordova was responding to a carjacking incident in the 2900 block of North Grand Avenue on the north side of Nogales, Arizona. During his attempt to apprehend the carjacking suspect, he was shot and killed.
