On May 9, 2018, a tragic incident occurred at a Circle K convenience store near 19th Avenue and Grant Street in Phoenix, Arizona. Efran Hernandez, a 24-year-old father of two young girls and a husband, was fatally shot inside the store. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Joel M. Carson, entered the store and shot Hernandez in the back of the head while he was waiting in line.
