Michael David Whitis Jr., a 21-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of July 28, 2018, in Payson, Arizona. His body was found by deputies with the Gila County Sheriff's Office, who responded to a shooting call at the Shoofly Ruins. Whitis Jr. was discovered in the backseat of a minivan.
