On a late summer day in Yuma, Arizona, the lives of three young men were tragically cut short. On September 3, 2018, 20-year-old Grady Baxter, along with Nicholas Grabbe, 19, and Javier Sanchez, 24, were found deceased inside a residence on West 5th Street. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a deceased person and, upon arrival, discovered the three men, all of whom had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
The case was immediately classified as a triple homicide, and an intensive investigation was launched to find the person or persons responsible for this violent act. Authorities did not believe the incident was a random act of violence.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a person of interest. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office identified 19-year-old Jimmie Roy Jordan as a suspect in the triple homicide. A search warrant was executed in connection with the case, and law enforcement sought the public's assistance in locating Jordan, who was considered armed and dangerous. Several days later, Jordan turned himself in to investigators. He was initially arrested and booked on multiple felony drug charges, including those related to narcotic sales and drug paraphernalia, while the homicide investigation continued.
Subsequently, Jimmie Roy Jordan was linked to the deaths of Grady Baxter, Nicholas Grabbe, and Javier Sanchez. In connection with the triple murder, Jordan entered into a plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to an amended count of second-degree murder. This plea was part of a resolution to the case that had been delayed due to the outsourcing of evidence to a laboratory for analysis and processing setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the resolution of the triple homicide case, Jordan was already serving a sentence for a separate murder.
