In the predawn hours of a summer Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona, the life of Danzail Duke Walton, a 26-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short. On July 20, 2019, Walton was standing at the exit of a parking lot near McDowell Road and Interstate 17 when a late-model blue Chevrolet sedan carrying two men pulled up beside him.

What began as a brief verbal exchange quickly escalated into a fatal encounter. One of the occupants of the car produced a firearm and shot Walton. The suspects, described by Phoenix Police as two males between the ages of 25 and 30, immediately fled the scene in their vehicle, heading south on 24th Drive. A security guard in the vicinity reportedly returned fire at the fleeing car. Walton was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Phoenix police launched an investigation and appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the capture of the two men. A composite sketch of one of the suspects was created and circulated in the hopes of generating leads. The authorities urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Phoenix Police Department or to provide anonymous tips through Silent Witness.

Despite these efforts, the case of Danzail Duke Walton's murder has grown cold. Years have passed since the shooting, and there have been no publicly announced arrests or naming of official suspects in connection with his death. The two men in the blue Chevy sedan have seemingly vanished, leaving behind a grieving family and a community still waiting for justice. The investigation into the untimely death of Danzail Duke Walton remains open, another unsolved homicide in the city of Phoenix.
