In a west Phoenix home on an August afternoon, a domestic situation turned fatal, leaving a family fractured and a community in shock. On August 3, 2020, 38-year-old Devin Michael Anderson, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, was shot and killed. The chain of events began to unfold around 4 p.m. when a man placed a harrowing 911 call, reporting that his wife had just shot him.
When Phoenix police officers arrived at the couple's residence, they found Anderson suffering from a gunshot
wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, his life could not be saved. Inside the home at the time of the shooting were three young children who were fortunately unharmed.
The investigation swiftly pointed to Devin Anderson's wife, 33-year-old Samone Lomax, as the alleged perpetrator. She was subsequently arrested and booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of murder. While the immediate aftermath provided a suspect, the motive for the shooting remained unclear to investigators.
