In the early morning hours of September 25, 2020, the life of 19-year-old Austin Evans was tragically cut short inside his Phoenix, Arizona, apartment. What began as a gathering of friends took a devastating turn, leaving a young man dead and another facing serious criminal charges. The male victim was with his friends when he decided to show them a gun.
The situation escalated when one of his friends, 19-year-old Shekeedren Bryant, began to handle the firearm.
As Bryant was playing with the weapon, it discharged. A single shot struck Austin Evans, who succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. In the immediate aftermath, a sense of panic seemingly took hold of Bryant, who initially fled from the apartment.
However, his flight from the scene was short-lived. Bryant later had a change of heart and decided to take responsibility for his actions. He returned to the area and contacted police officers to admit his involvement in the accidental shooting. Following his confession, Shekeedren Bryant was taken into custody and booked into the Maricopa County Jail. He was subsequently charged with negligent homicide for his role in the death of his friend, Austin Evans.
