On October 26, 2020, Christiaan Miguel Silva, a 27-year-old man from Tucson, Arizona, was fatally shot during an attempted car theft. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of East Calle Joya de Ventura, where a home's security video system alerted the occupants to a man trying to break into their vehicle parked near the street.
