On November 25, 2023, a homicide investigation was initiated in east Phoenix after the discovery of a 27-year-old man who had sustained injuries consistent with homicide. The victim was identified as Cory Ángel Rodríguez.

Police officers responded to the scene near 44th Street and McDowell Road just after 9:30 a.m. following reports of an injured person. Upon arrival, firefighters pronounced Rodríguez dead.
