On a Sunday morning in early January, the body of 27-year-old Megan Rae Jean Hannah was discovered by a passing motorist on the side of Arroyo Vista Drive in Bullhead City, Arizona. It was January 2, 2022, and an investigation into her death began immediately. An initial examination revealed that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. For days, her identity remained a mystery to investigators, who noted she had long brown hair and a tattoo on her shoulder blade that read 'family.'
Ultimately, fingerprint analysis confirmed her name as Megan Rae Jean Hannah of Medford, Oregon.
The investigation into Megan's death quickly focused on her 37-year-old boyfriend, Ryan Lynn Clark, also from Medford, Oregon. Police learned that Megan was last seen with Clark, who was described as having an extensive and violent criminal history. Their travels had brought them from Oregon to the Bullhead City area in a rental car. Surveillance footage captured this same vehicle leaving the vicinity of the crime scene in the early morning hours of the day Megan's body was found. Further investigation revealed that after the murder, Clark had checked into a hotel in the nearby town of Laughlin, Nevada.
With evidence mounting, the Bullhead City Police Department issued a felony homicide arrest warrant for Ryan Clark. On Thursday, January 6th, with the assistance of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Clark was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on Casino Drive in Laughlin as he was leaving his hotel. A search of his rental car uncovered several of Megan Hannah's personal belongings. Detectives then executed a search warrant for his hotel room, where they found more of the victim's possessions. Critically, they also located the weapon believed to have been used in the homicide and bullets that were consistent with the ammunition found at the crime scene. Following his arrest, Ryan Clark was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.
