In a tragic turn of events on a Wednesday evening in Phoenix, Arizona, a mother's life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. Martha Adrianna Alejo, a 32-year-old female, was standing in line for food with her pre-teen son on May 4, 2022, when she was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in the area of 7th Avenue and Pima Road.
Witnesses reported that a car pulled up and an occupant began firing shots at the people waiting in line before the
vehicle sped away, heading southbound on 7th Avenue. Alejo was struck by the gunfire and was later pronounced dead from her injuries. Miraculously, no one else in the line was physically harmed, including her son whom family members say she shielded.
