Death by Force

Emir Rivas Casillas, a 14-year-old Hispanic / Latino male from Phoenix, Arizona, died on May 17, 2022, after being shot while riding in a car in central Phoenix. According to police and subsequent media reports, officers were first alerted when he was brought to a hospital near 11th Street and McDowell Road with a gunshot wound. Investigators learned that he had been a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the area of 11th Street by the Moreland/Roosevelt corridor when the shooting occurred.
