In the late afternoon of May 20, 2022, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a West Phoenix neighborhood, leaving a 41-year-old Hispanic man named Hector Antillon Acosta fatally wounded. The incident unfolded around 3:50 p.m. in the vicinity of 91st Avenue and Campbell Avenue, where Phoenix police officers were dispatched following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Acosta suffering from a gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed Acosta to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The Phoenix Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the tragic shooting. As detectives delved into the case, they were able to identify a person of interest and gather enough evidence to establish probable cause for an arrest.
The investigation led to the apprehension of 39-year-old Robert Segobia in connection with Acosta's death. Segobia was taken into custody by law enforcement.
