In the early morning hours of July 16, 2022, the life of 19-year-old Robert Xavier Cardona was tragically cut short in Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 40th Avenue and Roosevelt Road around 1:15 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cardona in a nearby field with an apparent gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Robert Cardona succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Phoenix Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting.
At the time of the initial reports, the suspect or suspects in the shooting remained at large. Law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest, urging witnesses or those with knowledge of the incident to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness to remain anonymous.
