On August 4, 2022, around 10:30 a.m., Phoenix police responded to a call about a shooting in the area of 4700 South 36th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 37-year-old male, later identified as Pete Hernandez, inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

Hernandez was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died. The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Phoenix Police Department.
