In Phoenix, Arizona, a young man's life was cut tragically short. Xavier Alejandro Quintana, a 17-year-old Hispanic male, was born on February 17, 2005. Adopted as a newborn by Epimenio Quintana, a retired veteran, and his wife, Xavier's early life was marked by a significant loss. In May 2017, his adoptive mother passed away from cancer, an event that deeply affected both him and his father.
The grief from his mother's death cast a long shadow over Xavier's life.
He subsequently struggled with his mental health, battling depression in the years that followed. Despite the love and support of his family, the weight of his grief and depression became an overwhelming burden for the young man.
On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Xavier took his own life. In the midst of his own sorrow, his father, Epimenio, made the selfless decision to donate Xavier's organs, hoping to bring a blessing to another family out of his own heartache. To honor his son's memory, a fundraiser was organized to help with funeral and memorial expenses.
