In the late evening hours of Sunday, February 12, 2023, a dispute on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona, escalated into deadly violence, claiming the life of 19-year-old Ramiro Melendez Lopez. The young man was a passenger in a white Mercury Grand Marquis, traveling eastbound in the vicinity of 4100 West Osborn Road with another male and a female companion.
An exchange of words with the occupants of another vehicle, a grey sedan with black rims, tinted windows, and a loud exhaust, marked the beginning of a tragic sequence of events.
As the two vehicles drove alongside each other, the verbal altercation intensified. Suddenly, two or three male occupants of the grey sedan opened fire on the Grand Marquis. The hail of bullets struck Ramiro Melendez Lopez and the other male passenger. The female occupant was physically unharmed. Following the shooting, the grey sedan fled the scene, heading southbound on 41st Avenue and disappearing into the night.

They discovered the targeted vehicle stopped in the roadway with its three occupants inside. Both wounded men were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Ramiro Melendez Lopez succumbed to his injuries. The second male victim was stabilized and was expected to survive.
