On an April evening in 2023, a 25-year-old woman named Maria Ledesma Ramirez was working her shift as a manager at a Burger King on 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix, Arizona. A dedicated single mother of two young boys, Maria was known by her loved ones as a fighter whose priority was always her children. She had been with the fast-food restaurant for about two years and had been promoted to manager just a few months after being hired.
