Daniel C. Gordon, III, a 54-year-old male, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on May 13, 2023. His death occurred as he was the subject of a criminal investigation.
In mid-April 2023, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office had initiated an investigation into allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior between Gordon, an employee of Correctional Health Services-Mental Health for Maricopa County, and at least one inmate.
As the investigation progressed, detectives with the sheriff's office secured a search warrant for Gordon's residence.
Before the warrant could be executed, however, Gordon died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Following his death, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office requested that the Phoenix Police Department take over the death investigation. Gordon had been an employee with Maricopa County Health Services since 2021 and was placed on leave once the criminal investigation began. There have been no arrests or suspects identified in relation to his death, as it was determined to be a suicide.
