In the quiet city of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, the morning of May 17, 2023, was shattered by violence. At approximately 9:15 a.m., police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of McCulloch Boulevard North following reports of a shooting. Inside, they discovered an unresponsive 19-year-old male, identified as Arnell L. Bell. He was a White / Caucasian male who had sustained injuries consistent with being shot.
Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving
measures, but tragically, Arnell Bell succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His life was cut short by an act of gun violence, leaving a community in shock and a family to grieve an immeasurable loss. Those who knew him described him as funny, witty, kind, and generous, a young man who loved music, animals, and dreamed of a future that included culinary arts and working on cars.
Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit immediately began an intensive investigation into the homicide. Their efforts quickly led to a suspect, and as a result of their work, 22-year-old Angel F. Caldera, also a resident of Lake Havasu City, was arrested. Caldera was subsequently charged with Second Degree Murder.
Following his arrest, Angel F. Caldera had his initial court appearance where he was held on a $1,000,000 bond before being transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. While an arrest has been made, the specific circumstances that led to the fatal shooting and the nature of the relationship between Caldera and Bell have not been publicly disclosed by authorities as the investigation continues.
