Stephen Arps, 27, a Black male from Omaha, was shot alongside his girlfriend, 23-year-old Johnnesha Brown, on the night of November 4, 2014, as they sat in a car near 45th Street and Grand Avenue in northeast Omaha. Brown died shortly after the ambush; Arps fought for several days before dying at the hospital on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The shootings came during a spate of violence in the city and drew urgent pleas from both families for answers.
