Loyal C. Brown III, a 30-year-old Black male, was found shot to death just after 3 a.m. on November 15, 2020, inside a residence at 2250 North 39th Street in Omaha, near 38th and Grant. Officers responding to a report of a shooting discovered Brown deceased and began a homicide investigation that same morning.
By that evening, police announced three arrests connected to the case.
Prentis Reddick was booked on a count of criminal homicide, while Shaquia Pettiford and Thea Pettiford were booked as accessories to criminal homicide. Authorities publicly identified Brown as the victim and reiterated the location and timing of the shooting in their updates.
Subsequent court records indicate that the accessory case against Shaquia Pettiford moved forward: in December 2020 she was formally charged as an accessory to a felony, and in September 2021 she entered a no-contest plea and was sentenced to one year of probation.
