Black / African American Alexandria Jenai Mitchell, a 25-year-old female, was killed on November 27, 2023, in what police have described as an apparent murder-suicide. Known affectionately as 'Alex,' she was a beacon of light in her community, remembered for her kind and loving nature.
The incident unfolded when Nicholas Paige, 29, fatally shot Mitchell before taking his own life.

Alexandria was a dedicated professional, serving as a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Specialist at Medical Solutions. Her commitment to fostering inclusivity extended beyond her workplace. She was an active mentor and community activist, involved with the Urban League of Nebraska Young Professionals and various student organizations at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her friends and family recall her infectious smile and a voice that advocated for those around her. They remember a woman who was intelligent, ambitious, and radiated warmth and friendliness to everyone she met.
