In the late hours of August 13, 2024, Mursal Jama, a 64-year-old Black man, was fatally shot outside his Omaha, Nebraska, home. A native of Somalia who came to the United States as a refugee in 2007, Jama was a hardworking Uber driver and a devoted father to ten children. He was returning from his shift shortly before midnight when the tragic events unfolded at his apartment complex near 94th Plaza and Cady Court.
