Black/African American male Thomas Ferguson, age 22, was shot on the night of December 12, 2014, in the Cedar Heights community outside Wilmington, Delaware. Patrol officers were dispatched around 9:41 p.m. to Walnut Avenue and Maple Avenue, where they found the 22-year-old with a gunshot wound lying on the ground. He was rushed to Christiana Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:01 p.m., the end of a short, frantic battle to keep him alive after violence broke the quiet of a residential block.
