Darius Jackson Paul, a 23-year-old from Wilmington, Delaware, was tragically murdered on May 10, 2017. His death occurred in a violent incident that would go on to raise concerns about rising crime rates in the area. Paul was found with fatal gunshot wounds in the vicinity of the 1500 block of West 5th Street, a location known for its history of criminal activity. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
