On a late summer evening in Wilmington, Delaware, a simple attempt to defuse a volatile situation tragically ended the life of 28-year-old Allen Melton, a Black/African American male. The events of September 7, 2017, unfolded near the intersection of Cedar and Anchorage Streets, where Melton's girlfriend became embroiled in a heated argument with another woman. That woman was an associate of a man named Sandy Lashley, who was then 31 years old and from Queens, New York.
