Jaron Smullen, 29, a Black/African American male, was shot on the afternoon of December 3, 2019, on the 100 block of East 24th Street in Wilmington’s Prices Run area. Officers arrived around 4:05 p.m. and found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries, with obituary records listing his date of death as December 4, 2019.
In the days that followed, Wilmington Police identified and arrested a suspect.
