In the early morning hours of a Saturday in March 2004, the vibrant pulse of Washington, D.C.'s U Street corridor was tragically interrupted. Inside the Between Friends Club, a popular nightspot located at 1115a U Street, NW, a violent altercation left a man, George Barnes, gravely injured. Police officers from the Third District, responding to a radio call for a stabbing, arrived to find a grim scene.
