Nicholas Davis, a 31-year-old White/Caucasian male from Laurel, Delaware, died after a shooting in Seaford on the night of February 20, 2022. The violence unfolded shortly before 9:00 p.m., when Seaford police were called to 1252 Norman Eskridge Highway for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found Davis in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Investigators later determined that the confrontation began nearby at the McDonald’s drive-thru at 300 South Dual Highway. Davis had been in the drive-thru when he first encountered a group of people who were also there. After leaving the drive-thru, the encounter did not end. The two sides continued into an adjacent parking lot off Stein Highway, where the situation escalated and Davis was shot. After the shooting, the group involved fled the scene, leaving Davis wounded in the parking lot.
The Seaford Police Department requested assistance from the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit, which took over the investigation. Within days, detectives identified a 17-year-old male from Seaford as a suspect in Davis’s killing. The teen was taken into custody without incident. Because he was a juvenile, authorities did not release his name in the reports located.
The suspect was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court No. 3 and committed to a Department of Correction juvenile detention facility on a $210,000 cash bond. Police described the case as active and ongoing at the time of the arrest, and investigators continued asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact Delaware State Police.
