On February 6, 2008, 56-year-old Darrel Smith was found shot to death in his sawmill adjacent to his home on Thomas Road in Woodland, Maine. Smith was the owner of Smith's Sawmill and Logging, a business he operated on his property. His wife, Barbara Smith, discovered his body upon returning home that day.
