On March 7, 2013, in Chapman, Maine, 77-year-old Sheila Anne (Smith) Sykora was fatally shot by her husband, 81-year-old Marcus B. Sykora Sr., who then took his own life. The Maine State Police classified the incident as a domestic murder-suicide.
