On November 4, 2021, 17-year-old Brandin Guerrero of Massapequa, New York, was found dead on a lawn in Machias, Maine. Authorities determined that his death was the result of a drug-related shooting.

Investigations revealed that Guerrero had traveled to Machias to sell drugs and was believed to be associated with the Bloods gang in New York City. He was ambushed by a group of individuals aiming to steal his backpack, leading to his fatal shooting.
