On February 3, 2020, a tragic series of shootings occurred in Machias and Jonesboro, Maine, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including 57-year-old Shawn Currey of Machias. The perpetrator, 63-year-old Thomas Bonfanti from Northfield, Maine, embarked on a violent spree, targeting multiple residences in the area.
