Brittney Cockrell, a 37-year-old Caucasian female, had recently relocated to Westbrook, Maine, from Texas with her family, embracing a new chapter in her life. On the evening of June 19, 2023, this new beginning was tragically cut short in a parking lot near Main and Bridge streets. Brittney and her life partner, Michael Hayter, were fatally shot while their two young children, an 11-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter, were present in the vehicle and witnessed the horrific event.
