A late-night shooting in Billings, Montana, on June 24, 2021, tragically ended the life of 22-year-old Thaddeus Maurice Merritt from Illinois. The incident occurred near the Billings Police Department headquarters, leaving the community shaken and raising questions about gun violence.

Merritt and an 18-year-old Billings man were both found with multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, Merritt succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. The other victim was treated for his injuries.
