In the late hours of a Thursday night in Billings, Montana, the life of Thaddeus Maurice Merritt, a 22-year-old Black / African American male from Illinois, was tragically cut short. On June 24, 2021, just before midnight, gunfire erupted near the downtown police headquarters. When officers responded to the scene, they discovered two individuals with multiple gunshot wounds.
