In the summer of 2021, the community of Vaughn, Montana, was shaken by the tragic death of Joseph Randall Ray, a 33-year-old White/Caucasian male. On July 15, 2021, Ray was killed near a residence on Montana Secondary Highway 200. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
