In a tragic turn of events on the afternoon of January 19, 2017, Katrina Budden, a 20-year-old Caucasian female from Twin Falls, Idaho, lost her life. The incident occurred at a residence located at 232 2nd Avenue North. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 4:40 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Budden with a gunshot wound to her head. She was immediately transported to St.
Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
The subsequent investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of a suspect, 26-year-old Brandon S. Smithson, who was identified as Budden's roommate. It was reported that the shooting occurred while Smithson was showing a gun to neighbors. He was taken into custody and faced a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Katrina Budden's death. The two were known to be acquainted with each other.
Katrina, remembered as a genuine soul who always saw the good in people, was born on November 17, 1996, in Twin Falls. Those who knew her described her as a light in the lives of everyone she met, someone who focused on the positive aspects of life and selflessly put the needs of others before her own. She had a passion for singing and could often be heard singing with her close friend. She also enjoyed longboarding. Her sudden and untimely passing left a void in the hearts of her family and friends.
