A woman's voice on the line reported that she had just shot her husband, 31-year-old Cody Tewell, a Caucasian male. The caller alleged that her husband had been strangling her during a violent domestic dispute, leading her to use a firearm in self-defense.
When police arrived at the apartment on Alton Woods Drive shortly before 3:45 a.m., they found Cody Tewell deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting saw the couple's children being safely removed from the home and placed in the care of another family member. The woman who made the call was transported to Concord Hospital for treatment of injuries she reportedly sustained during the altercation.
