The series of events began when Benson's father, 37-year-old Trent Weston, contacted authorities in the early morning hours to report that he had killed his wife, 37-year-old Brittany Weston, after an argument in their home.
When police arrived at the family's Monadnock Street apartment, they discovered Brittany Weston's body; she had been fatally shot.
Following the murder of his wife, Trent Weston fled with their son, Benson.
