On a tragic Memorial Day in 2015, the life of 53-year-old Rick Vreeland, a Caucasian male, was cut short in the town of Brownington, Vermont. On May 25th, Vreeland was shot and killed by Jeffrey Ray, the 51-year-old ex-husband of his wife. The violent encounter unfolded in the driveway of Ray's daughter's home, a place that should have been a setting for family connection, not a scene of bloodshed.
