On July 4, 2018, 29-year-old Courtney Gaboriault was tragically killed in her Barre, Vermont, apartment by her former boyfriend, 30-year-old Luke Lacroix. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. when Lacroix forcibly entered Gaboriault's residence, brandishing a 9mm handgun. A struggle ensued between Lacroix and a friend of Gaboriault's, Fred Longchamp, who managed to escape and alert the police.
