Lara Sobel, a 48-year-old social worker from Barre, Vermont, was tragically killed on August 7, 2015. The incident occurred outside the Department for Children and Families (DCF) building in Barre. Jody Herring, a 40-year-old Vermont woman, is accused of shooting Sobel twice after losing custody of her 9-year-old daughter. Herring was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
