A woman is found deceased at her business
On February 19, 1958, Doris E. Baker, a 45-year-old business owner, was found murdered in her store, Floor Covering Inc., located on Merchant Street in Barre, Vermont. She had been alone at the time of the crime, and her death was later ruled a homicide. A customer discovered her body when he arrived to pick up a linoleum order and found the store empty before finding her in the back of the building.
