On March 17, 2020, George Sun, a 41-year-old Vermont resident, was fatally shot outside a residence on Vermont Route 14 in Royalton. Another individual, identified as 26-year-old Dakota Fielder, sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he underwent surgery and was reported to be in fair condition.
